Classes and Tutoring

The Swahili Institute of Chicago (SWITCH) offers classes for all levels of education from pre-school through college levels. SWITCH develops curriculums and provides instructors for African Language, Cultural Enrichment, amd Cultural Awareness Programs. Private Tutoring is provided upon request and tailored to the client's needs. We can prepare you for a safari, a business trip to Africa, or a college equivalency exam. African dance and drumming classes are offered at the institute or at suitable, on-site facilities.

Performances / Cultural Presentations

SWITCH has cultural performing artists available for dance and drumming performances, storytelling, poetry and dramatic presentations. Performances are interactive with the audience. Lectures, presentations and demonstrations are given on historical, cultural and current events related to Africa. The institute conducts an annual Kwanzaa Celebration. Karibu!

Educational and Consulting Services

SWITCH offers a variety of cultural, educational and
consulting services, including translation services,
Rites of Passage Programs, African Naming Ceremonies, Weddings, Kwanzaa Presentations and Safari Travel Arrangements.

African Market Store and Vending

SWITCH offers a large variety of African Products,
Kiswahili Books and CDs are available. We offer a wide variety of items including Art Work, Handicrafts, Clothing, Unique Jewelry and some Home Furnishings. Vending services are available for your events.
